In a salute to Rochester Pride Month and the public domain, the Lilac Library will screen 1930’s Morocco on July 31 at 8 PM, right after our regular hours. Bisexual actress Marlene Dietrich stars as a nightclub singer whose crossdressing and girlkissing act has gone down in film history. It will be preceded by a silent short, 1926’s What’s the World Coming To?, a vision of 2026 so mired in reactionary attitudes towards women’s advances that it loops back into camp. Popcorn and refreshments will be provided!
