Volunteers are the reason we are able to operate and serve the queer community of Rochester
We’ve returned to a grassroots volunteer-run center and we depend on people like you to volunteer their time! As we grow our volunteer base, we are able to have the Lilac Library open more hours of the week, provide more programs, and connect with more of the community at events.
“The Rochester Rainbow Union makes me feel like I have a space to exist as myself and make changes that better my community. I am able to interact with some really cool people and at the Lilac Library, I get the opportunity to help folks by connecting them to resources and information, in the safety of an explicitly queer space.”
We have a variety of volunteer opportunities
We have plenty of in-house library projects from archival work with our magazines and newspapers, collection maintenance and circulation with our books, media, and clothing closet, and seasonal craft projects. For folks interested in an adventure we also have tabling and outreach opportunities to connect with the Rochester community.
